Always Tired? Causes and Natural Remedies
77A growing number of people today are asking the question “why am I always tired”? Millions of Americans today suffer from chronic fatigue. It is frustrating and discouraging to be tired all the time. Many people with this condition assume it is caused by stress, lack of sleep and a hectic lifestyle. For many, being constantly tired has more serious underlying causes. Getting to the root of the problem is the first step to eliminating fatigue forever. Fatigue is much more than just feeling tired. It often involves the feelings of weariness, lack of energy and lethargy. Being tired all the time is different than normal fatigue which everyone experiences from time to time. Normal fatigue usually lasts for a few days and is easily cured by getting more sleep.
If fatigue is ongoing and last more than a few weeks it is an indication that the body is not functioning properly. There may be several factors contributing to this condition such as hormone imbalance, poor nutrition, chronic infections, excessive stress, cardiovascular and respiratory problems, adrenal gland depletion, anxiety and depression.
Poor nutrition - Deficiency in essential nutrients will lead to an impaired immune system, which commonly leads to disease and fatigue. Consuming nutrient deficient foods that are also toxic to the body, such as processed, refined and fast foods will eventually put the body in a state of stress and fatigue. Improper diet leads to eating disorders, weight gain and digestive problems which lead to constantly being tired. To learn more about eating a diet to promote optimal energy levels click here.
Lack of Exercise - The old saying “if you don’t use it, you will lose it” is more true than many people realize. A sedentary life style can put body parts in a state of deterioration which result in chronic tiredness. Studies have shown that inactivity leads to organ deterioration, but activity, will counteract the deterioration. To learn more about how the exercise effects the body and the brain click here.
Cardiovascular and Respiratory Problems - Stress, poor diet, lack of exercise can lead to cardiovascular and respiratory problems which are associated with chronic fatigue. Oxygen is essential for maintaining optimal energy levels. If the heart or lungs are not working effectively, oxygen levels in the body will be lower than necessary to maintain proper energy levels. Less serious conditions such as allergies, asthma and hay fever can also cause respiratory conditions associated with being tired all the time. Sleep Disorders - Not getting enough sleep on a regular basis may lead to chronic fatigue. Sleep disorders may be caused by anxiety, depression, malnutrition and lack of exercise. Another cause may be excessive mind stimulation later in the evening. It’s a good idea only engage in relaxing activities at least 1 1/2 hours before bed. Drugs, too much caffeine and other stimulant also lead to sleep disorders. Sleep apnea drastically reduce sleep quality. To learn how to overcome sleep apnea click here.
Thyroid Disorders - metabolism which controls energy levels is controlled by the thyroid. Without adequate production of the necessary hormones, the metabolism slows and sluggishness and weight gain set in. Both of these conditions are associated with hypothyroidism. Hypothyroidism is a condition which affects millions of Americans today. Learn how to treat hypothyroidism here.
Mental Health Issues - stress, depression and anxiety all lead to chronic fatigue. All of these disorders interfere with quality of sleep. Chronic stress puts a toll on the adrenal glands which may lead to another serious condition called adrenal fatigue. To learn more about adrenal fatigue click here. A stress overload may be caused by a combination of things which include financial pressures, relationship turmoil, yo-yo dieting, death or illness of a loved one, skipping meals and unresolved emotional issues. An unhealthy mind leads to an unhealthy body. Eventually all the major organs of the body can become impaired and cause severe physical exhaustion. Regular exercise and healthy diet and supplementation are effective at reducing the symptoms of stress, anxiety and depression. The amino acid L-Carnitine had been found very effective in treating fatigue.
Chronic fatigue has many causes. Causes are nearly always result of an unhealthy lifestyle. Lifestyle changes can be made to restore energy and maintain it for a life time. To learn more about how to get rid of fatigue and restore energy levels to normal click on various links in this article.

2011 will open my eyes to why I am so tired all the time. I need to address this issue. I know it is lack of something, and I have to get to the bottom of it. I have NO energy daily.
This is a great read steve! There are so many ways we can heal ourselves, other then medication. Being tired can cause you to feel bad. More people need to learn these steps. Thanks!
Great stuff. I always wonder why sometimes when i'm having a slow day i get more lethargic. I guess it's the lack of exercise.
Thanks for sharing. :o))
I really enjoyed reading your hub, thanks for the tips
You have a lot of good information here! Our teenage son was very lethargic for quite awhile. At first we just thought it was a teenager thing but later found out he was deficient in Vitamin D. Once his level was back to normal, we noticed a big change!
Very interesting and informative! I've discovered a lot of these facts over the years and what will lead to extreme fatigue - and reading this has reminded me why regular exercise is so important, I really do find that I sleep better and have more energy when I exercise regularly, which I've started doing again recently. This is definitely motivation because I hate being tired all the time. Thanks for the great info!
Very good points. I also feel tiredness comes from not drinking enough water, drinking too many sugar filled sodas and caffeinated drinks.
that is great information, 2011 will be blessing for you
great information as usual. I always thought it was diet but I was unaware that lack of exercise and breathing issues can also affect it.
What a wonderful hub filled with information but seriously, I feel so much better when I exercise in the mornings, or even if I just jog or sit and enjoy the morning.
No matter how sleep deprived I might be, the nature seems to always soothe me.
These are the answers for people who get this problem but they don't know the causes. I rate it very useful.
Very good article....good information.Thanks.

Cool observations Steve, I nailed my causes down to lack of sleep and stress. Wish they were easy maladies to remedy but it's been a lifelong struggle so far. Thanks for trying to make the world, a less tiring place!
