Arbonne Direct Marketing vs Network Marketing: A Review of The Jan Kilic Approach to Building the Arbonne Business

Arbonne International was established 30 years ago. Since then, the company has distributed products through network marketing. The majority of individuals who have chosen to build an Arbonne business have been trained to use direct sales to promote their businesses. Direct sales is defined as marketing and selling products or services without a retail store. Sales are made through home parties, one on one appointments and other types of personal contact. The focus of the direct sales approach is product sales. With this approach the monthly sales goal is reached by the accumulation of product sales at the retail level. For example, at the district manager level, consultants are required to maintain a monthly retail sales volume of $2000 to maintain their district.

This is accomplished in three ways: personal use, personal product sales and total sales from all individuals sponsored directly or indirectly into a consultants business who have not yet become district managers. Those who are sponsored into a consultants business as business builders are trained to duplicate the direct sales approach and train others to do the same.

Individuals who enjoy selling are attracted to the direct sales method of marketing. This method works well for people who love to sell and are willing to do what it takes to sell a lot of products. In direct selling the majority of your sales volume comes from retail customers and preferred clients. One of the disadvantages to using the direct sales approach to find new business builders is that many people do not like to sell.

When prospects who don’t like to sell learn through hearing Arbonne opportunity presentation that they need to sell $2000 of products per month at the district manager level and find others to do the same, they immediately lose interest in the opportunity. For those who do like to sell, building a large organization can be challenging because only a small percentage of prospects who are shown the business opportunity like to sell.

Among those who like to sell, only a small percentage will become business builders. If you love to sell, and don’t mind doing a lot of parties and one on ones the direct sales approach may be right for you. If you don’t like to sell you will find the network marketing approach to building the Arbonne business much more appealing.

In the network marketing approach the majority of your sales volume comes from business owners. The network marketing approach is simple. Always lead with the business opportunity when doing a one on one presentation with a prospect. Teach them to switch their buying habits using money they are already spending elsewhere on similar but unhealthy products and have them teach others to do the same. There is no need to personally sell thousands of dollars of products per month. In fact, no matter what level you are at in the business all that is necessary is to spend $150 per month and and teach others to do the same. This is an easier and more effective, long-term method of reaching the required $2000/monthly central district volume.

With this approach their are no home parties to sell products or product demonstrations. Interested prospects are shown an 8 minutes opportunity presentation. At the end of the presentation the prospect is asked if they are a one, two or a three. One being “I am interested in the products,” two being “I am interested in the products and want to learn more about the business” and three being “I’m interested in the business and want to get started right away.” The prospect is given a curiosity pack to take home and asked to try an Arbonne sample product for three days.

The 8 Minute Presentation

After three days the follow up meeting takes place. This is when the power of the network marketing approach becomes evident. The prospect is asked to tick every product on the “Arbonnize your home" form which they are already buying somewhere else. Prospects usually end up ticking off ten to twenty items on the sheet. Not only is this a highly effective way to create ongoing sales but when prospects learn that only $150 per month is required to build a business, they are much more interested in the business opportunity.

Less preferred and retail customers and more business builders in your business with a lower monthly volume requirement makes for a very stable business that will endure for a lifetime. The following article covers a topic that has recently moved to center stage--at least it seems that way. If you've been thinking you need to know more about it, here's your opportunity.

Have passed this on to a friend whose wife was doing Arbonne and seems to have given up on the marketing parties idea. Thanks.
