The baby care market in North America has become a multi-billion dollar industry. The reason for this is because consumers are becoming aware that there are better choices available today to nourish and protect their babies skin from the environment. These products are safe, pure and specifically designed to meet the needs of young skin.

There are a few challenges that come with keeping a baby’s skin healthy. They have very thin skin which makes it difficult to retain moisture. It takes several years for the skin to develop a thicker, protective layer to the harmful toxins in the environment. It’s very common for babies to form inadequate amounts of sebum and sweat. This is vital to the formation of the the skin’s acid mantle, which is the skin’s defense against the environment.

Soap destroys the skin’s acid mantle and should not be used on babies. This invites various skin conditions for babies, particularly eczema. Only products that are pH correct should be used.

Doctors prescribe topical steroids containing hydrocortisone to treat more serious cases of eczema. Hydrocortisone is a steroid used to reduce inflammation. It can be found in many over the counter skin creams. The problem with using hydrocortisone on babies is that it further weakens their undeveloped protective mantle making them prone to various viruses. It has also been known to cause blood poisoning.

When these steroids are applied to sensitive areas such as armpits, groin and eyelids, the skin is even thinner and more vulnerable. These areas are susceptible to irritation, hypo-pigmentation, stretch marks and development of rough looking skin. Prolonged use of these medications cause the body to build up a resistance, which leads to using stronger doses with more harmful side effects. Side effects include a weakened immune system, thinning of the skin, liver and kidney damage and burn marks on the skin.

One company, Arbonne International has chosen a different approach. They have developed a pure, safe and beneficial baby line known as ABC (Arbonne Baby Care). All of their safety studies are conducted under the supervision of a pediatrician and a dermatologist.

Although these products are designed for prevention, they have also been found effective in treating eczema more effectively than topical steroids. The ABC line has been formulated to be pH correct in order to protect the acid mantle from being stripped away.

Arbonne uses botanical ingredients, which have proven to be most effective against environmental elements. These ingredients come from desert plants because they have shown the strongest protection against the environment.

Arbonne repeatedly tests their products for sensitivity and irritation. The ABC line has been formulated to be non-sensitizing and non-irritating. Arbonne never use animal products, by-products or tests on animals. The products or formulated without chemicals, dyes or synthetic fragrances.

There are five products in the Arbonne Baby Care line. Hair & Body Wash, Arbonne Baby Care Body Lotion, Arbonne Baby Care Body Oil, Herbal Diaper Rash Cream, and Sunscreen SPF 30+. These are the products needed daily to protect young skin.

There are three key botanicals found in the ABC line.

Shea Butter - This is very effective moisturizer, which also leaves the baby’s skin feeling soft and smooth. It contains vitamin A and E which makes it very nourishing to the skin.

Oat extract - This extract is highly absorbent and effective at soothing and softening, dry, itchy, sensitive skin.

Aloe - effective at delivering moisture to the skin and preventing moisture loss.

The ABC line also contains added vitamin A and E known as retinol palmitate and tocopherol acetate. These nutrients are very effective at keeping skin soft and smooth. As antioxidants they provide powerful protection against free radical formation as well as environmental elements that can be irritating to skin.

Topical steroids attempt to treat the symptoms of eczema and only provide temporary results with various side effects. Arbonne uses the natural approach with the ABC line. ABC effectively nourishes and protects a baby’s skin using pure, safe and beneficial ingredients which are non-sensitizing, non-irritating and have no side effects. The ABC line is the safe and natural choice for treatment and prevention for eczema.

The ABC products are truly amazing! The FC5 Skin Conditioning Oil is wonderful as a spot treatment. My friend puts it on her son and virtually watches as the flare-up fades.

I love the Arbonne's Baby Line for my own skin. If I have a bug bite or a rash, I use the rash cream myself. It's unscented, so my house does not spell like a baby.
