It is estimated that over 45 million people worldwide have Rosacea with 14 million of them living in America. The people that are usually affected are North western europeons. Most cases of rosecia only affect the face. The symptoms are pink or red patches, noticable broken blood vessals on the cheeks, red cysts and little red bumps and irritated, pink eyes. It looks similar to red faced acne and can cause a lot of emotional distress for the victim because of the social and occupational challenges it creates.

The first stage of rosacea is seen as redness and flushing in the middle of the face and on the nose, cheeks and forehead. As it progresses, other symptoms begin to show up, such as enlargement of visible blood vessels on the face, red eyes, small bumps, stinging and burning sensations and in more severe cases, a red, rounded nose. Rosacia affects both men and woman, but is much more common in woman and usually takes place between the ages of 30 and 60.

Causes of Rosacea

Scientific studies support the idea that rosacea is a neurological disorder that is the result of a chain of events, which begins with an imbalance of intestinal bacteria in the small intestine and produces dermal inflammation, which leads to flushing or blushing. The cause of the bacteria inbalance may have similar root causes as many other health conditions. Underlying causes may be insufficient stomach acid, resulting in poor digestion and elimination of toxins, liver and gall bladder problems, high blood pressure, and poor diet.

There are a number of factors that will trigger flushing which leads to rosecia. They are alcohol, caffeine, spicy foods, high histamine foods, strenuous exercise, severe sunburn, anxiety, stress, sudden temperature changes such as moving from the warm indoors to the cold outdoors, cold wind and heat from the sun.

Some medications and skin treatments that can cause rosacea to become worse are benzoyl peroxide, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, topical steroids and tretinoin.

Rosacea Cure

Apple cider vinegar - is used as a remedy for rosacea. It is believed that it helps release digestive enzymes and helps to restore the balance of bacteria in the intestines. Another benefit is in its ability to restore stomach acid which is often lacking in people with rosacea. It is best to take apple cider vinegar liquid with water. It also comes in tablet form but there have been some reports osophageal injury with them.

Acidophilus - is necessary for the restoration of flora to balance the bacteria in the intestines. The best sources are natural plain white yogurt containing live culture, kefir and lactic acid, fermented, vegetables such as red beets and sauerkraut.

Digestive enzymes -Absorption of a number of nutrients is essential for those with rosacea. Minerals, fatty acids and vitamins need digestive enzymes in order to be properly absorbed and used by the body. Many individuals with rosacea have low stomach acid. if this is the case, supplement with hydrochlroric acid for a short time. If you experience heat or burning reduce the dosage.

Vitamins - People with rosacea are often low in the B vitamins. Supplementing the diet with B vitamins will help restore stomach acid levels and sluggish digestion over time.

Daily dosages:

Digestive enzymes, 2 capsules with meals

Hydrochloric acid, 1 capsule three times per day

Vitamin B complex, 50mg 3 times per day

Body Detox - In severe cases a juice fast and a colon cleanse may be necessary. This will eliminate toxins and remove any congestion in the liver. It will also allow more efficient functioning of the stomach and other organs.

Topical treatments - Research has found that the following creams and herbs have been effective as topical treatments for rosacea: Chrysanthellum Indicum Cream, Green Tea Cream, Niacinamide Cream, Azelaic Acid Cream and licorice.

Rosacea is a sign of health problems in the body. Making changes in diet and adding the appropriate supplements will not only treat unattractive rosacea but will help to eliminate any health disorders in the body.

I've read on many forums that B Vitamins which contain B12 and Niacin can cause more redness of the face as well as papules. I don't know if what I have is Rosacea but I noticed that while taking Centrum and B Vitamins the redness got worse.

Niacin does cause flushing. You can take niacinamide in it's place to avoid this problem.

i am not finding these topical remedies you mention. where can they be purchased. are they proprietary, that is, do you sell them?

Thanks for your comment shopper. There are some companies online that sell the different topical creams. It is important to choose a reputable brand that is pure, safe and beneficial. The only creams that I could recommend for Rosacea with these characteristics may use different natural ingredients than the ones mentioned in this article. If you would like more information email me using the contact link below my picture at the top of the page.

These were all new to me. I have researched this topic quite a bit. But usually just find preventive advice, avoiding roscaea triggers. And they only thing I have found that people in my family that have this have said worked was prescription topical creams or lotions - like Metocreme.

But this are interesting. Might pass this info along. The Apple Cidar Vinegar sounds like something you might have to be careful with.

Thanks for the information.

I have not tried the supplements you have suggested, but I had a series of acupuncture sessions that deffinately helped the redness on my nose and the bumps on my forehead have gone.

I am currently juice fasting with colon hydrotherapy for 7 days. I am on day 5, and I have noticed that the redness on my nose has got alot worse with cappileries moving further up my nose. Is this normal?

I will try the other supplements when I after aswell.

Thanks for your comment Edward!

During any detox program there are unpleasant side effects. Many people have had excellent results with juice fasting but the results don't come overnight.

As someone who has been burned a few times buying products that claim (very convincingly) to be phenomenal, and also as someone who NEVER writes reviews, I felt compelled to write this one.

My husband had very bad rosacea on his face. We tried many different creams, some commercial, some alternative "all natural". He had no real luck. Then we came across a recommendation for the Made from Earth skin care line. There we found the Rosehip & Hibiscus Face Serum, which is ideal for rosacea. At $15 a bottle - we had nothing to lose since we alreday tried all the xpensive treatments that did not work!

It was inexpensive and having been burned before, I thought at least we'd only be out $15. I never expected it to work.

My husbands Rosacea is gone. Seriously. He uses this every day. He noticed a difference in a month of continious daily use. Buy it - it is worth the price and more.

I have used so many products prescribed by my determotologist - from pills to topical creams, gles and cleansers - the pills didn't work and ALL the topical stuff burns ... I'll continue my research but I plan to try Tammy's husband's treatment because I've spent some serious money even with co-pay. I'll let you know ...

My face has always been "rosy" and becomes more so with exposure to the elements, which doesn't help because I spend a lot of time outdoors.

I started using the Made from Earth Rosehip Hibiscus Serum last summer to soothe my skin before and after a day in the sun.

Now that it's winter, I love it even more. The cold temperatures and winds usually turn my face red and puffy to the point of stinging, but now when I get in I put on the serum to quickly calm my irritated skin. And my skin isn't flaky and dry anymore either! It's soft and healthy looking!

My skin went crazy…it felt like it was on fire. Raw and red and such pain!

I went to the dermatologist and he prescribed “MetroLotion” and all it did was burn my skin even more.( This started when I was about 48 years old—other strange health problems were happening at the same time).

I started using the Made from Earth Rosehip & Hibiscus Face Serum also – and my skin is under control. The hideous raw red skin flares occaisionally…I use it daily…

Cool! My husband suffers from Rosacea and hates the cortisone meds. We'll have to try apple cider vinegar and the B vitamins. Thanks much!

I have rosacea for 3 years now and I am going to try the "Rosehip & Hibicuss serum" from "made from Earth" skin care products as Tammy F had suggested. Under their website, apperantely it has with good results for many rosacea sufferers .

I wouldnt believe this unless it actually happened to me. I have been taking a tablespoon of Flaxseed Oil (the kind with the High Lignan content), for 3 weeks now. My rosacea is clearing up! It has also corrected a long standing problem with constipation. Of course, consult your own Dr. before adding anything new to your diet. But I swear this is working for me! The only moisturizer is use is 100% JoJoba Oil purchased from a Health Food Store. I wash my face in Cetaphil. (available at Walmrt, Walgreens, etc.) Good Luck!

Is this comment written by a sales rep from the company? My guess is yes. It is on most sites that come up when googling rosacea and its content looks very much like the typical fake.

Anyway I tried the rosehip on my own face - after I bought it for $25 + sh and the only good point about it is that it is harmless. It has no effect at all on rosacea after a month of daily application, none at all.

I have read that MILK THISLE is the best treatment - it treats livers is anti inflamitory, and is even a suncreen. i have started taking 3 tablets a day and crushing a tablet in water for my face "cream" . i also put a vit A capsule in it. I have only tried for a few days but it has healed all the pustules and flacked of the tops - seems promising.

I am also taking a lot of fish oil and vitamins and minerals.

ONE THING IS ...that people who have too much iron in their system get rosacea - that can also cause bad liver. The cure being give blood regularly.

I will also try the apple cider vinegar.

thanks for the hub.

i wouldn't trust the people raving about the rosehip + hibiscus cream. They all have names like "Maria L", "Maria C", "Peg M", and "Tammy F" - coincidentally the only people commenting about rosehip + hibiscus with first name and last name initialized. Coincidence? I think not.

Okay I need help, I am only 21 years old and I think I have this :( what is the best treatment pleaseeeeee!!! Help!!!

DanniMom 3 months ago

Having tried many products similar and most a lot more expensive, I was reluctant with my expectations of anything new.

I have a lot of redness around my eyes and after about a week and a half of daily use of the Made from Earth Rosehip Hibiscus Serum, I actually could see the redness has lessened. With continued use, about three weeks now, it still seems to be improving. Even though I am 61, I don't have a big issue with wrinkles. Over all, I am very pleased with the results and the price!

Where can I get Chrysanthellum Indicum cream in Los Angeles/Inland Empire area?

SalonJJ 9 days ago

I have gotten asked by a number of people what I use on my face, and I immediately blabber on and on about how great the Lady Soma Renewal Serum is. I usually have a combination skin type, but it can change from season to season, I no longer dread the extremes of winter or summer, it stays soft and silky looking year-round. I don't even get those pesky break-outs once a month anymore, which I think may also account for my less severe PMS. Amazing! Amazing! Amazing!
