Nutritious, Meal Replacement, Weight Loss Smoothies
74If you have ever attempted a low calorie diet, you know how challenging it can be. First, you have to have the will power to stick with it. If you do manage to stay with it long enough to experience significant weight loss, you discover that you are hungrier than you ever been before, and that you still have fat in areas that you thought would have vanished away. The obvious reason you are so hungry is because you have been starving yourself. What you may not realize is that your hunger is a symptom of more than an empty stomach.
A prolonged low calorie diet starves the body of essential nutrients such as vitamins, minerals, healthy fats, enzymes, as well as calories, all of which are needed for healthy fat burning. That's right calories are essential for fat burning! Why? Because the body has a daily energy requirement that comes from food calories. If the daily requirement is not met, the body holds on to stored fat because it isn't getting enough energy. Instead of burning fat, the body begins to break down muscle to supply its energy needs. This is why you find that you are able to lose weight on starvation diets but are unable to get rid of unattractive fat and obtain the shape you desire. Not only have you failed to get rid of unwanted fat, you have an uncontrollable desire to eat because your body desperately needs calories and nutrition.
There is a healthy simple, and effective way to lose fat quickly and keep it off. I call it the Nutritious Meal Replacement, Weight Loss Smoothie. It has all the protein, vitamins, minerals, enzymes and calories to be a complete meal replacement. In fact, the weight loss smoothie is healthier than a regular meal. Not only will it promote rapid and healthy weight loss it will speed up your metabolism and increase energy, improve digestion, help cleanse the liver and detoxify the body which will in turn improve fat burning efficiency. Best of all, you won't be hungry. I lost ten pounds and reached my ideal weight by drinking meal replacement smoothies in three weeks and have maintained it by continuing to replace one meal a day, several times per week.
What's in a Meal Replacement Smoothie?
A meal replacement smoothie consists of frozen fruit of your choice, one cup organic plain yogurt with active culture, one large scoop of protein powder fortified with vitamins, minerals, alfalfa, coenzyme Q10, kelp and ginseng, purified/bottled water or 100% pure fruit juice with no sugar added. If you are using water, you can added unsweetened frozen orange juice to sweeten your smoothie. Fresh seedless grapes are another great water replacement. Liquid can be varied depending on how thick you like your smoothie.Since you are new to this smoothie making recipe you will find there is a bit of trial and error working with fruit and liquid measurements in making a great tasting smoothie but the effort is worth it. (Occasionally, you may find that you still feel hungry after drinking your smoothie, but ignore the hunger and it will soon pass and you will find that you have lots of energy until lunch.) If you want to lose weight quickly I suggest replacing two meals a day with smoothies. (Do not increase the size of your evening meal and avoid snacking. If you crave snacks, this program should soon begin to decrease cravings.)

I appreciate your suggestions on meal replacement drinks. I have used this method for years to maintain my weight. Right now I'm using Shaklee meal replacements that I sure enjoy. I find that you can really change the monotony of having shakes by switching the fruit i use. In fact I just found a great recipe for the coming Christmas season.
The Pumpkin Pie Shake
2 scoops of Vanilla of Meal Replacement
1 c. of non-fat milk or soy milk
2 tbsp. of canned pumpkin
dash of cinnamon, nutmeg and vanilla
6 ice cubes for thickness of shake
This keeps you in the holiday spirit while sticking to your diet.
Yes, smoothies are perfect for loosing some weight. And protein is the key in balancing blood sugar, maintaining energy and the best way to keep hunger in check.
Thanks for sharing this weight loss tip with us.
And there in lies my problem....will power. Smoothie looks good. Thanks.
I love smoothies and will have to try this.
Thanks! Another great hub. Protien is key.
I agree. Definitely should not starve yourself on any diet. Can't maintain the healthy weight loss over longterm. Not to mention, this is a very unhealthy way to loose weight.
...I didn't know you can add alfalfa, kelp, and ginseng. Would the kelp make it smell fishy and weird?
Though that smoothie looks delicious. I going to make me some smoothie now... :-)

Good recipe. I have done something similar for breakfast shakes in the past. However, I don't use the dreaded and evil bottled water! I use Brita filtered water! ;)
