How to Help Make Hair Grow Naturally: Natural Growth Tips
77Hair loss is a condition that affects more than 80,000,000 men and women in the United States alone. Many companies claim to have miracle formulas to make hair grow. These persuasive messages have prompted consumers to spend a combined total of approximately one billiion dollars trying to find an effective treatment for hair loss. The problem with many of these types of products is that they are not based on sound nutritional principles that support hair health and growth. The first indication that baldness was a result of a nutrition deficiency was seen in the Japanese population after World War II. To realize how proper nutrition can be the most effective approach to hair health and growth it is important to understand the different causes of hair loss.
Understanding Hair Loss
Hair loss is normal. Everyday we lose about 125 hairs. Hair grows in cycles and at the end of each cycle hair falls out. As we get older, both men and women will experience some increase in hair loss. In men, it is referred to as male pattern baldness, technically known as Androgenetic Alopecia. The cause of this type of baldness is DHT. The hormone testosterone, which is produced by men and women can convert into DHT. DHT causes events to take place that restrict blood flow to hair folicles, shrinking their size, slowly making hair more thin and fragile until eventually they fall out and do not return. Men produce more testostorone than women and therefore have a greater potential to lose more hair than women. If baldness resulting from Androgenetic Alopecia has been present for a number of years there may be no way to restore hair growth.
Androgenetic Alopecia is the most common type of hair loss but there are several others: Traction alopecia - Constantly pulling on the hair will cause it to start falling out. Individuals with pony tails tend to do this quite often. Trichotillomania is loss of hair caused by constantly pulling and bending the hair. This is more common in children than adults. Iron deficiency - is a common cause of hair loss. Excessive fat intake - has been linked to increased incidences of male baldness. Hypothyroidism - one cause may be lack of sleep. Adequate amounts of rest promote healthy hair and hair growth , stress, radiation, chemotherapy, starvation or nutrition depleted diets, birth control pills, blood thinners, gout medication, sudden hormonal changes, fungal infections and ringworm,

Nutrition is a huge factor in healthy hair and hair growth. Studies show that the herbs saw palmetto and licorice root and the mineral zinc can block the destructive effects of DHT on the hair. It has also been found that well balanced, nutritional meals rich in vitamins, minerals and proteins and essential fatty acids are linked to healthy hair. A low fat and moderate calorie intake diet when combined with daily aerobic exercise have been found to lower testostorone levels and therefore significantly lowering DHT which causes hair loss.
It has also been found to lower insulin and stress levels which raise levels of a substance that binds to testostorone, preventing it from circulating through the blood. Only free circulating testostorone can be converted into DHT, causing eventual hair loss. A saturated acid known as Azelaic acid is 90% effective at inhibiting activity resulting in hair loss when combined with zinc. Pumpkin seed extract aids in the breakdown of DHT by the liver. Some unsaturated fatty acids such as gamma linolenic acid have been found effective in preventing hair loss.
Hair loss is a serious condition affecting millions. So many products on the market claim to be the answer to how to make hair grow but in many cases don't give the body what it needs to sustain it naturally. It is important to take the natural approach to hair growth, giving the hair what it needs to grow and be healthy through nutrition, exercise and plenty of rest.

Very informative hub here Steve. Helps to know what you might be dealing with. Knowledge always trumps guesses and fears.
Hi steve, definitely the most informative hub i've read about treating hair loss. I was very interested to read about then herbs that can block DHT. I have been using provillus, which I'm sure is a lot more expensive than herbs!

Great information here. My ex's mother suffered from female hair loss.. not too bad but you could see thinning patches on the back of her head.
I suffer from thinning hair and it is devastating at times. I am 65 and my hair is still mostly dark. Any information I can find I save and work with it. I have bookmarked your hub so I can read it often and learn. Thank you so much.
I think some people reach a stage where they can't grow any hair period, but are fooled into thinking they are. These places say results may very, that's the real trick.
Thanks, I am sharing these tips to some friends! All the best! =)
Thanks! This is a very interesting article, and I'll share it. Darn, everything regarding good health seems to circle back to eating right, exercise and sleep. The comment below to use "cow poo", if it truly worked, may catch on but would probably have too many warnings on the label to sell very well!
I have hair problems over 3 years already and dont know how to fix it! My hair is falling a part and literally im not talking about 5-10 single hair a day..
I did try rogaine agree doesnt work as good as they advertise tried for 3 month no results no effect "nothing" and other chinese herbal seems to be BS..
Im from CANADA and a lot of products are prohibited here.. If product can not pass customs most likely its not original.
If there is any one else who tried lida hair restoration please advise, let me know further results!
I really want to try something that is working..
I really want my hair back!!!!!
Thanks
Lucy.
I've tried many things to stop my hair loss from tablets and other anti hair loss treatments including Rogaine from net market..
All company's guarantee for their products, but never respond back when you need them..
My friend told me about this website online: www.fortelida.com original suppliers and great customer service always there when you need them, tried LIDA ANTI-HAIR LOSS Treatment and very pleased with my results; im on my 2nd month, my hair got stronger and even longer by 1.3 inches in length.
Happy to share my story..
Michelle.
